Statement Regarding “˜PIP’ Implants

The primary concern of Parkside Hospital is the welfare of its patients and we fully appreciate that the recent media coverage may well have caused a high level of anxiety amongst patients that have received Poly Implant Prostheses (PIP).

Currently the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and Department of Health (DoH) do not recommend the routine removal of PIP implants.  However any patient who paid Parkside Hospital for their implant surgery, and who following a consultation with their surgeon, wishes to have their implants removed and/or replaced, Parkside Hospital will meet the hospital costs of performing the necessary diagnostic investigation (e.g. Ultrasound Scan) and the subsequent removal and replacement of PIP implants.

How do I know if my implants are PIP?

Your surgeon should have provided you with this information at the time of your procedure.  If you no longer have this information then you can either contact your surgeon or alternatively if you had your procedure at Parkside Hospital then simply call the Hospital on 020 8971 8016 Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm. Outside of these hours, please call 020 8971 8000 and ask to speak to the Duty Sister.

I have implants but they are not PIP – are these affected too?

The MHRA advice only relates to PIP implants.
