EMG Studies

Electromyography (EMG) is the study of electrical activity within your muscles and is used to diagnose Epilepsy, nerve and muscle diseases and other general neurological conditions.

A fine needle (an electrode) will be inserted into the muscles to carry out the EMG. The nerves inside the muscle will be stimulated, and the responses will be recorded (on an Oscilloscope) for analysis.

The (EMG) study is not invasive, with discomfort kept to a minimum. It takes around 30 minutes to complete, and the results will be forwarded to the clinician (typically the Consultant or GP) who referred you.
