As the situation with coronavirus (Covid-19) continues to develop we will be ensuring this page is kept up-to-date with the latest advice for patients, consultants and staff.

Please note: Telephone and video consultations are available for patients however we are unable to offer walk-in GP appointments. We are also unable to offer testing for Covid-19.

As we are dedicating all of our capacity to the NHS, many of our procedures and treatments have been postponed. However, we are still able to offer telephone and virtual consultations for patients who need to speak with our specialists.

Supporting the NHS

In these exceptional times, we are proud to be doing our bit to support the health service. Since the end of March, in keeping with other hospitals in the independent sector, we have dedicated our staff, resources and equipment to the NHS in the fight against Covid-19. What does this mean for you?

As we’re working side-by-side with the NHS, it is inevitable that the majority of non-urgent planned procedures at our hospitals will have to be postponed. We will be in contact with any patients where the Consultant feels it is necessary to reschedule your appointment to a later date. However, telephone and virtual consultations are available across most of our specialties.

Our award-winning hospitals have robust infection prevention and control measures, and we’re regularly reviewing our practices to ensure the cleanliness of our hospitals and the safety of all patients and staff from infections and viruses, including coronavirus. Changes to how we may process your personal information
As we work with the NHS there will be greater integration of our information systems, healthcare facilities and professionals. Our first responsibility is as always, the safety and wellbeing of patients and the wider public – confidentiality remains central to Aspen’s way of working. We will not take unnecessary risks with your information and your rights remain protected.

Healthcare professionals providing your care may be provided by a mix of Parkside Hospital and the NHS. Your health information may be under the control of Aspen Healthcare (Parkside Hospital),  the NHS Trust or both. There may be times when more health professionals have access to your information. Professionals have a duty of confidentiality and have been trained in data protection. They will only access your information because there is a clear need.

Your data may be shared on the basis of Public Health in order to protect you and others. This may be with the NHS, the Department of Health and Social Care, or other health and regulatory bodies. This will be in line with the principles of data protection. The privacy notices for any NHS Trust providing your care will be provided at your hospital or clinic. Links to the NHS Trusts we are working with are provided at the end of this statement.

Our services may change throughout the pandemic response. Changes will be published on our website. This may include the provision of phone and video consultations. The solutions our consultants will recommend for remote consultations meet current standards for privacy and security.

To make a data protection rights request, please email your hospital or clinic. Alternatively, please email stating your request or enquiry, and which service and hospital or clinic you used and our Data Protection Officer will direct it to the appropriate team.

We will continue to respond and complete requests as quickly as we are able, and where possible within the statutory limit (usually one month from when we receive it). If we are unable to complete a request within the statutory limit, we will endeavour to let you know that this is the case, why we haven’t been able to complete it in time, how much time we need, and your options for making a complaint.


Information for patients: the NHS’s latest advice on coronavirus

Stay at home to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The government’s latest advice is clear: people should stay at home whether they have symptoms of coronavirus or not, in order to prevent the spread of the infection. This includes people of all ages – even if you do not have symptoms or underlying health conditions.

People can leave their homes in some circumstances: to shop for essential goods, for one form of exercise per day, for a medical reason, or to travel to or from work where it is necessary. Find out more.


What to do if you have coronavirus symptoms

Use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service if you have either:

  • a high temperature – you feel hot to touch on your chest or back
  • a new, continuous cough – this means you’ve started coughing repeatedly.

These are the main symptoms of coronavirus. Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital if you think you have coronavirus. Stay at home.

Use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service if:

  • you feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home
  • your condition gets worse
  • your symptoms do not get better after seven days.
