Clinical interests:

A secial interest in early pregnancy care, emergency gynaecology and the diagnosis of gynaecological cancer. Has an international reputation for the use of ultrasonography including for the assessment of pain or bleeding in early pregnancy (checking for miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy).


Extensive experience in the use of ultrasound to assess the ovaries for the presence of cysts and to either diagnose or exclude ovarian cancer. Will carry out ultrasound scans for referring doctors or at the request of patients, but as a consultant gynaecologist is also happy to offer advice and management.

Senior research fellow & lecturer Kings College Hospital 1989-1994. Swedish MRC fellow Goteborg University Sweden 1995. Consultant Gynaecologist St Georges Hospital London 1996-2007. Visiting Professor KU Leuven Belgium 2008 onwards. Consultant Gynaecologist Imperial College NHS trust from 2009. Adjunct Professor Imperial College London from 2013.

Personal profile:

Married to Vicky. Interests: I am a member of the MCC, Riverside Ramblers and Ditchling cricket clubs. Road cycling. Sailing - member of Royal Solent and Bembridge sailing club. Painting. The theatre, visual arts and cinema. Drumming very badly.
