About

Dr Malcolm Prentice is a Consultant in Endocrinology, Diabetes and General Medicine with a special interest in thyroid diseases. He spent a year as a field officer with the WHO Malaria Eradication project in the Solomon Islands. He qualified in medicine at King's College Hospital and has a BSc degree in Pharmacology from King's College, London. He has over thirty years of experience in inpatient and outpatient management of endocrinology, diabetes and general medicine. He was one of the first in the UK to set up a one-stop Thyroid Nodule Clinic with ultrasound and biopsy in 1990. He initiated the National Training Course for Thyroid Ultrasound and Biopsy jointly with the support of the Royal College of Radiologists, He is the co-author of the National Guidelines for the Management of Differentiated Thyroid Cancer (Editions 1 & 2). He is a provider of radioactive iodine treatment for thyrotoxicosis and goitre. He is a member of the UK Iodine Group to improve UK pregnancy outcomes, and is working with the Society for Endocrinology to change the name of Diabetes Insipidus to improve patient safety.

He was awarded the following: First Prize, Norman S. Plummer Memorial Postgraduate Prize, Nominated for Awards for Excellence in NHS Scheme, 1997, 1998, B Merit Award 2000, renewed 2005 and 2013. Greatix Certificate of Excellence Award for Patient Care and Excellent Teamwork November 2018.

Awarded BUPA Platinum Consultant status.
