Mr Sourav Das is a Consultant at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and his areas of expertise
are managing fibroids, pelvic pain, endometriosis and adenomyosis, abnormal vaginal bleeding and ovarian cysts. In Obstetrics his special interest lies in managing patients with abnormal invasive placentas and operative management in patients with very high BMI.
He is passionate about innovation, and this has led to him leading in many surgical innovations which has been well received internationally. He believes in teamwork and has used his management skills to bring about positive changes in patient satisfaction.
Mr Das has worked in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology for more than 18 years, of which he has been a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist for more than 2 years. He has extensive surgical and laparoscopic training and experience in managing complex benign gynaecology and fibroids. He has gained expertise in offering minimally invasive vaginal hysterectomies, which is specially beneficial in women with high BMI.
He pursued his interest in management which led to gaining a Masters in Business Administration in International Hospitals and Healthcare management . Mr Das’s experience in working with social entrepreneurs in the field of women’s health has paved his way to be the strategic lead for ‘Women’s Health Advocacy Network’ – a charity that relieves the needs, preserve and protect the physical and mental health of women and girls in the UK and beyond who have survived rape or sexual abuse by anyone.
Mr Das has a keen interest in managing complex and massive fibroid disease including those in women needing repeat myomectomies. His competence in vaginal surgeries has helped him to improve outcomes, especially in women with high BMI needing hysterectomy.
