Mr Richard Sinnerton

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Upper Limb Specialist

QualificationsFRCS (Orth)

Clinical interests:

Mr Richard Sinnerton is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who treats patients with shoulder, elbow and hand problems.

Training & background:

Mr Sinnerton is the founder of the London Upper Limb Unit which provides those with shoulder and elbow issues with the opportunity to gain advice, information and treatment if necessary.

Richard Sinnerton’s interest in shoulder surgery dates back to meeting and working for Professor Pascal Boileau in 1996, an inspirational surgeon whose ideas and techniques were ahead of their time but have now become mainstream practice.

Whilst surgery can provide a solution when a patient’s symptoms do not settle or become a recurrent issue, Richard Sinnerton often finds that a range of upper limb problems can be treated with rehabilitation and/or medication. He ensures that all avenues are explored before resorting to surgery once a diagnosis has been made.

Richard Sinnerton studied medicine at St. Thomas’ Hospital Medical School and trained as an orthopaedic surgeon at St. Mary’s Hospital in London. After becoming a consultant in 1998, he worked for seven years at Ashford and St. Peter’s NHS Trust.
