Dr George Bownes is an expert in Sport and Exercise Medicine, providing management of acute and chronic musculoskeletal, tendon and bone stress injuries.
George has a wide range of Sport and Musculoskeletal Medicine experience, having worked within a range of Military, NHS and Elite High Performance Sporting environments.
George has worked for several years at a range of military rehabilitation centres, including Defence Military Rehabilitation Centre Headley Court & Stanford Hall as the Upper Limb Lead Consultant, and Regional Rehabilitations Units at Aldershot & RAF Cranwell dealing with a range of complex musculoskeletal rehabilitation by leading a wide ranging multi-disciplinary team.
Within the Faculty of Sport & Exercise Medicine George sits on the Speciality Advisory Board updating the curriculum for Consultant training, assessing Doctors applying for their Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) and writing questions for the Faculty’s Membership examination.
Outside of medicine George is a sports enthusiast. He has podiumed at numerous Ultras and completed multiple International Marathons, Multi Stage Races, Ironmans and Road Cycling events including the 2015 Tour de Force.
George is therefore in a unique position of fully understanding the impact injury can have on an individual and is committed to returning people back to higher levels of function and performance after injury.
