Training & background:
Dr Matthey graduated from Charing Cross Hospital Medical School in 1980, trained in general medicine in London, before training in haematology at the Royal Free Hospital and UCH/The Middlesex Hospital. He was appointed as a consultant in 1990 and worked in Surrey for 16 years before moving to the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in 2006, where he is Service Lead for haematology. He has a reputation for being a good teacher and communicator.
Dr Francis Matthey is a highly experienced Consultant Haematologist, having practiced in this field of medicine for over 25 years. He has served as the secretary to the national British Committee on Standards in Haematology Task Force in Haemato-Oncology and as the Clinical Lead for Blood Sciences for Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
