65% of the British population is overweight and 24% are obese. Obesity can dramatically increase the risk of diabetes, heart attack, stroke and some cancers, and is responsible for over 9,000 premature deaths every year.

What is Obesity?

Anybody with BMI over 30 kg/m² is considered to be obese. Obesity is 'becoming excessively fat due to increased intake of calories and decreased activity including exercises'.

What is BMI?

Body Mass Index (BMI) is one of the measures to determine the level of obesity. You can work out your body mass index by dividing your weight in kilograms by height in metres twice.
