Sports Medicine

Soft tissue swelling and inflammation is minimised with the immediate treatment of sports injuries, this means a quicker return to sport and less chance of re-injury.

At Parkside Hospital's Sports Injury Unit, a physiotherapist is on-call at all times to give advice to patients who have sustained acute injuries, we also routinely treat non-acute and overuse injuries.

All of our senior physiotherapists are fully qualified chartered physiotherapists. As part of our multi-disciplinary team we have a number of sports physicians including those with experience in working with professional sports men and women, Premiership football teams and the national rugby team.

Co-operation with coaches and trainers is encouraged and we can advise on appropriate training methods and regimes.

The unit has direct access to the excellent diagnostic facilities of the Hospital such as MRI, CT, ultrasound and X-ray. We work closely with orthopaedic surgeons, rheumatologists and sports medicine specialists.
