Massage Therapy
Parkside physiotherapy department can offer Sports Massage and Swedish massage. Massage is a treatment used to manage soft tissue tension, tightness and whole body relaxation by providing movement, heat and enhanced circulation to the specific area. It can often be used alone or as an adjunct to physiotherapy treatment. Massage is appropriate for anyone looking to restore range of movement at joints and length of muscle, de-stress the body and help the muscles in recovery after activity to flush out lactate, or post operatively.
Sports Massage
‘Sports massage’ is a deep tissue intensive massage which utilises traditional techniques and gentle manipulation to boost circulation and relieve muscle aches and pains. It promotes a sense of well being and balances and relaxes the body with its therapeutic effect. Regular treatment is particularly beneficial for the prevention and treatment of pre or post operative injuries or to assist in everyday problems.
Swedish Massage
Swedish Body Massage is a complementary type of treatment that contributes to enjoying good health. It is based on applying strokes that can range from very gentle and slow rhythm, to induce relaxation, to firm and energetic, to awaken the senses and restore a sense of well-being.
Swedish body massage contributes to the healing of muscle tissue, due to its ability to mobilise excess tissue fluid out of the affected areas and thereby reduce swelling.
Massage therapy is undertaken by our trained massage therapists. It is not usual for Health insurance companies to cover the cost of these treatments.
