Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy is a form of physiotherapy which uses the warmth and buoyancy of the water to exercise stiff joints and to strengthen muscles. This makes it an excellent medium for rehabilitation after injury or surgery. It also provides an ideal exercise environment for patients with arthritic joints, or who are reliant on walking aids for mobility, as a greater number of exercises can be performed in the water compared to on land.

Our hydrotherapy pool is heated to a comfortable 35° C, has two depth zones (1.1m and 1.4m) and is equipped with a mechanical hoist to ensure safe, easy access for patients with restricted mobility. You will be assessed by a physiotherapist to ensure suitability for hydrotherapy and then an individual exercise programme will be designed for you. The therapist will be with you in the water for each 30 minute session.

For this treatment, you may refer yourself or be referred by your GP, Consultant or Therapist.
