Insured Patients

Parkside Hospital is recognised by all major medical insurers. The amount of cover provided by each insurer is different, so if you’re using your private medical insurance to pay for treatment it’s vital to check the terms and conditions of your policy before any consultation, investigation, diagnostic imaging or admission. They will outline whether your treatment is covered by your policy and if you have to pay an excess, and they will also explain how to make a claim. If your insurance company is happy to cover the cost of your admission, they’ll issue an authorisation number or authorised claim number. You must bring this number with you when you’re admitted to Parkside.

There are some inpatient charges that are not covered by medical insurance, such as visitors’ meals, telephone calls, physiotherapy aids and medication that you’re taking home with you. You will be invoiced separately for these after you’ve been discharged from the hospital.

If we can’t arrange direct payment with your insurance company, or you don’t bring your insurance registration documents or proof of pre-authorisation with you, we will ask you to pay a deposit in advance of your admission. An invoice will be sent to you 48 hours after you’re discharged - this should be forwarded on to your insurance company.
