The first principle of this clinic is to provide a modern, rapid access ultrasound based clinic for women with acute or relatively urgent gynaecological symptoms, and for complications of early pregnancy. There is a 'same day' scanning service for women with bleeding in early pregnancy, possible miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy.

In the event of further treatment being required, for example with a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy, appropriate advice or surgery can be arranged if requested by the GP.

The clinic also supplies an ultrasound based 'one visit' approach for non-acute gynaecological problems such as menstrual disturbances or post menopausal bleeding. Using this approach problems can be dealt with efficiently on an outpatient basis with just one appointment. In this way repeat visits for investigations can be avoided, as may hospital admission in many cases.

The centre is open daily.
