Mr William McClatchie

Mr William McClatchie graduated with distinction from Imperial College in 2003. He undertook his basic surgical training in London, while completing a Master’s degree from Imperial College. He undertook higher surgical training in the South West Thames region, after which he completed a fellowship in hip and knee surgery in Cambridge and London. He has gained extensive experience in a wide spectrum of approaches to treating pathology of the hip and knee. He undertook research, completing dissertation and undergraduate and postgraduate level, has published in international journals, and presented at international conferences.

Mr McClatchie was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust in 2015. His practice treats pathology of the hip and knee, including young adult hip problems. He is involved in training Orthopaedic Surgeons, and is surgical lead for one of the most consistently successful hip fracture units in the country. He is dedicated to providing successful and reliable solutions for pain around the hip and knee.

Reviewer for The Bone and Joint Journal (formerly JBJS(Br)) since 2011.

BA in Natural Science, and MSc in Surgical Technology at Imperial College. First class honours for dissertation “A Systematic Review of the Management of Periprosthetic Fractures of the Hip” Mr McClatchie has published research articles in a range of international journals, written a book chapter, and presented research at international conferences, along with being an invited speaker.

Mr McClatchie continues to teach locally and at medical school. He is very active in maintaining the standard of hip fracture care and recruits patients for national research trials.
