Sports injuries benefit from immediate treatment so that swelling and inflammation of soft tissues is minimised. The correct advice from the start ensures that no time is lost before rehabilitation begins. This means a quicker return to sport and less chance of re-injury.
At Parkside Sports Injury Unit, a physiotherapist is on-call at all times to give advice to patients who have sustained acute injuries. We also routinely treat non-acute and overuse injuries.
All our Senior Physiotherapists are fully qualified Chartered Physiotherapists. As part of our multi-disciplinary team we have a number of Sports Physicians including those with experience in working with professional sports men and women, Premiership football teams and the national rugby team.
Co-operation with coaches and trainers is encouraged and we can advise on appropriate training methods and regimes.
The Unit has direct access to the excellent diagnostic facilities of the Hospital such as MRI, CT, ultrasound and X-ray and works closely with Orthopaedic surgeons, rhematologists and sports medicine specialist as well as the onsite Wimbledon Clinic for Musculoskeletal Disorders and a specialist sports medicine company, Pure sports medicine which works in close conjunction with other medical professionals at the Hospital.
